63% Zinfandel, 21% Syrah, 8% Barbera, 8% Petite Sirah.
Zinfandel from Lauzere Vineyard, Shenandoah Valley AVA. As Shenandoah Valley is the least elevated AVA in the region, it has the warmest climate, making it ideal for growing Zinfandel. Fruit here are able to develop high sugar levels to produce full-bodied, spicy wines. Lauzere Vineyard is made of sandy-loam and granitic soils which adds incredible richness to the Red Blend.
Syrah from Le Mulet Rouge Vineyard – Fiddletown AVA Oakmont Vineyard – Shenandoah Valley AVA.
Barbera from Mabera Vineyard – Shenandoah Valley AVA.
Petite Sirah from Element 79 Vineyard, Fair Play AVA. Just south of Placerville, at an elevation of 2400 ft, you will find the Fair Play AVA. High mountainsides and deep granite soils develop grapes for intense wines. This area has been growing incredible wine grapes since the California Gold Rush, yet it is still a relatively unknown, untapped goldmine of high quality fruit.
Each vineyard is picked separately. The grapes are crushed and Destemmed. Cold soaking for 3 days. Fermentation at 85ºF. Rack and Return. Extensive skin maceration – 10 to 20 days. Aged and blended in French oak for 9 months, 30% new. 15.2% alcohol. 3400 cases produced.
