About the Producer

Lurton family: Henri, Vincent and Nico.

Bodegas Henri Lurton is born from an adventure that links France to Mexico. Henri Lurton, owner of the Grand Cru Classé Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux, with the support of his eldest sons, Vincent and Nicolas, placed a confident bid on Baja California - convinced of its winemaking potential, the warmth of its people and the generosity of the land.

The winery was started in 2015 by Lourdes Martinez Ojeda, who after working for almost 10 years at Château Brane-Cantenac returned to her hometown of Ensenada to bridge the divide between France and Mexico. She left in August 2019 and Nicolas Lurton is now assuming winemaking duties while his brother Vincent manages sales, marketing and administrative duties. Their father Henri Lurton comes into Baja several times a year to monitor winemaking and operations. The wines (Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Carmenere) seek to faithfully convey the terroir. Total production is 1,500 to 2,000 cases.

Farming practices: sustainable.
