About the Producer

In 2003, Mario Villareal bought a property in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California. He planned on building a house and planting vines, with the purpose of making a small quantity of wine to share with his family and friends. The first five hectares included: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc. The plants were brought from a certified plant nursery in California, USA, and were grafted on the 1103p rootstock, which adapts the best to the climate. Today, the vineyard spreads over 18 hectares, and more varieties have been added: Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, Tempranillo and Malbec. The total production is 5,000 cases. The name of the winery is taking from the initials of the owner, Mario Villareal. In Spanish, “M” is pronounced as “eme”, while “V” is pronounced as “ve”.

Oenologist Daniel Lonnberg is originally from Santiago de Chile, where he studied oenology. He received in 2003 a job offer to come and work for Domecq in México, and soon after met Hugo D'Acosta of Case de Piedra who invited him to participate to his projects. He started advising Emevé’s Vineyard in 2013.
