Transforming his home kitchen into an apothecary, Chris Wilfred Hughes set out to create the perfect non-alcoholic aperitif for a new era of drinkers; an aperitif with all of the bittersweet complexity of its forebears and none of the alcohol.

As an engineer and inventor with a passion for cocktails, he embarked on a journey of exploration, tinkering with over 100 different recipes over 18 months. Inspired by his travels around the world, he sourced every botanical he could find, from rare Japanese hibiscus to the aromatic English rose. His experimentations eventually led him back home to the authentic flavours he associates most with London – freshly picked rosemary from his mother’s garden, and the bitter oranges in his father’s homemade marmalade.
