Steinschaden is a family-run winery in the Kamp Valley, north of the Danube. The Kamp Valley derives its name from the Kamp, a small river meandering its way through beautiful landscapes. With 4,000 ha of vineyards the Kamp Valley is one of the biggest wine producing areas of Austria. It boasts three different types of soil and is blessed with an optimal climate for vineyards. This leads to wines of great finesse and diversity.
The family tree is deeply rooted in the soil of the Kamp Valley and can be traced back to the 16th century. Steinschaden’s cellar boasts the oldest basket press in the German-speaking part of Europe (dating back to 1564 A.D.), and the biggest refillable wooden barrel in Austria and Germany (with an empty weight of 10 tons and holding up to 40,400 litres).
