” When I moved to France and started visiting family farms 40 years ago it was a matter of fact that women were part of the winegrowing and winemaking effort, yet it was always the men who took the glory, whose names were on the bottles and who were lauded for their talents. On this side of the Atlantic it was very rare to find women in the wholesale distribution side of the business and there were virtually no female sommeliers or buyers. It was an oddity that my wife and I discussed regularly because it made no sense – many wineries were generational family businesses, run by couples and often their children as well. I myself grew up in a home where my mother not only prepared incredible dinners, but also had an intense interest in wine. VOS Selections truly exists because a woman’s passion for wine was passed on to me.
I am grateful for that connection, and it gives me great pleasure to celebrate women’s contributions to the entire world of wine. I am very proud of the accomplished women in the VOS Organization and all the incredibly talented women who craft the delicious beverages we are privileged to bring to the market.”
