Named for the territory it belongs to, the Sannio Pentro, this cuvée was bottled for the first time in 2007. 55% Montepulciano, 45% Sangiovese, from 40 year old vines. The grapes are harvested mid-October, with the alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and the malolactic fermentation and aging in barrels – Alliers and new Tronçais for 24 months.  Complex aromas, notes of red berries, balsamic and eucalyptus with a hint of coffee. Powerful tannins and structured body. 14.5% alcohol. 222 cases produced.

About the Producer

Founded in 2004 on the estate that once belonged to the Pignatelli Prince, Campi Valerio is an extensive family-owned farm of over 500 hectares. Only forty minutes away from the Adriatic Sea, it is located in different towns of the Province of Isernia: Macchia d’Isernia, Monteroduni, Pescolanciano, Miranda and other towns that are home to an olive oil mill, a winery, 30 ha of olive trees, 14 ha of vineyards and two farms with cattle and sheep. Through the restoration of the ancient sites located on the property, the Valerio family has combined a passion for agriculture with a love of the land, creating wines that aim to represent the autochthonous vines of the Sannio Pentro (Molise). Molise is the second smallest region of Italy after the Vallée d'Aoste.
