ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Patrick Clerget
The Clerget family have been rooted in Burgundy since 1268 — making them one of the oldest winemaking families in the region, recognised as such by the Guinness Book of Records. In 1698, Jean Clerget, a member of the Royal Parliament of Dijon, was appointed « Chevalier » (Knight) and granted the family crest that still appears on every label today. That blason is not mere decoration, but a signature; that of a family that has always placed the quality of Burgundy at the heart of all they do. Patrick Clerget came of age in the cellars. He entered the family winery at 17, learning the craft from the vine up. He went on to lead its export operations, then co-acquired the prestigious Château de Chassagne-Montrachet, building it into a recognised estate before passing it on. Awarded the honorary title of ‘Chevalier du Tastevin’ for his contribution to the global promotion of French wine, Patrick went on to create his own business in 1994 : Selection Patrick Clerget, focusing solely on export. He retired in January 2024.
Today, the stewardship of this heritge is in the hands of Baptiste Gillot – a young, Burgundy native whose deep love for the region’s wines guides his every choice. With precision and humility, he continues the Clerget family’s legacy, selecting exceptional cuvées that honor tradition while embracing the future.
At the heart of Clerget’s approach, winemaking is an art shaped by patience and respect. Traditional methods are not a constraint — they are a foundation, thoughtfully enriched by modern knowledge and a genuine commitment to sustainable viticulture. Each bottle is the result of meticulous attention, passion for craftsmanship and an unwavering dedication to Burgundy’s terroirs.
