ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Vincent Ledy

With a fierce determination to only work with the best parcels, even from modest appellations, Vincent Ledy has spent the last two decades quietly building one of the most electric names in Nuits-Saint-Georges. With just 4 ha spread across 10 vineyard sites, farmed biodynamically since day one, Ledy is a vigneron whose tiny production belies a deservedly outsized reputation.

Vincent built his eponymous domaine from the ground up, working nights and weekends on a small Hautes-Côtes de Nuits parcel while attending wine school in Beaune followed by 9 formative years at the acclaimed Domaine Lécheneaut. Vincent’s first vintage was 2007, which he made in his garage, and waited until 2013 to release.

Vincent’s grandfather grew grapes and is the nephew of Alain Michelot, whose winery is directly across the road. Vincent is a purist and works without compromise, from natural farming techniques, to whole cluster fermentations, and eschewing sulfur and new oak. The barrels are between three and six years old, purchased from friends so he knows the quality of the wood. He likes to age his wines for 18 months and typically holds his wine for a year before release. These are “vins de terroir,” with power, depth, structure, and high-toned fruit, Vincent’s wines bring the voices of his vines to fruition.

“Seriously great Bourgognes here. A range of wines that are absolutely worth your attention!”
