About the Producer

In 2014, Matt and Kelly Austin left their careers as an attorney and fashion designer in California for a new life in the Pacific Northwest. After Matt returned to school to study enology and spent time working with several Washington wineries, they stumbled upon a small vineyard on the Southside of Walla Walla. Planted with uncommon varieties, these 5 acres became Grosgrain Vineyards, a wine company dedicated to championing underdog grapes, sparkling wines, restrained reds and sustainable farming practices.

Old Milton Vineyard
Located on a small hilltop just above the Walla Walla Valley floor at an elevation of 785 feet, Old Milton Vineyard is the site of the winery, tasting room and Casa Grosgrain. The property is planted to Nebbiolo and Aglianico, which were existing plantings, as well as Grenache and Carignan planted in 2018. The soils consist of deep and well-drained Walla Walla silt loam.

Grosgrain Vineyard
Grosgrain Vineyard is located on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla valley within the SeVein vineyard development. The property, which reaches a south-facing peak of the Vansycle basalt ridge, tops out at 1400 feet, making it one of the higher elevation sites in the Walla Walla Valley. Much of the vineyard features shallow wind-blown loess soils overlying fractured basalt. The 80 acre property began development with the first plantings in 2019.
