Ca’ Rugate was established by the Tessari family in 1986 and is currently run by the capable and passionate Amadeo, Giovanni, Michele, and Laura. A new winery was built in 2002 with state of the art equipment. A sense of history and pride of place compels new projects (the current one is a revival of the ancient Vin Santos produced in the area). The Ca’ Rugate vineyards in Soave cover 30 hectares of rich, volcanic hillside in the commune of Monteforte d’Alpone in the heart of Soave Classico. An additional 10 Hectares are located in the commune of Montecchia di Crosara in nearby Valpolicella - with totally different, limestone soils. The ancient Pergolas are being replaced by Guyot and vineyard densities are being augmented. Total production of the winery is about 35,000 cases. Year-in, year-out Ca’ Rugate is Decanter Magazine’s favorite Soave producer.
