| Valpolicella is the hilly area to the west of Verona between the left side of the river Adige and the Monti Lessini. Historically it includes the villages of Negrar, San Pietro in Cariano, Marano, Fumane and Sant’Ambrogio. “Palazzo Montanari” is the 14th century private estate, located on the hill of Bure , in the heart of “Valpolicella Classica”. Since the beginning of the 19th century, the whole building has remained more or less the same, preserving its old charm of both a fortified tower house and a typical 18th century country villa. Now “Palazzo Montanari” continues its original function and produces olive oil and prestigious Valpolicella wines. The south east exposure maximizes the amount of sunlight and the benefits of the breezes that blow gently down the Fumane valley. The soil is dry, clayey and rich in fossils which guarantees the very high quality of the grapes, making them an excellent starting point for high class wines. Massimo Nicolis, the owner, takes great care of the land, together with his brothers Giancarlo –an agronomist- and Giuseppe – a wine maker – who have more than thirty years of experience. From the initial phase of taking care of the vineyards, and through the successive phases of the grape-growing and drying, wine making and ageing of the wine in small oak barrels and further ageing in bottles, all are fundamental steps that are carried out with great sense of passion. Palazzo Montanari has been introduced in the States in 2008. |

| Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso |
| 70% Corvina grossa, 25% Rondinella, 5% Croatina Growing system: simple, open and inclined “pergoletta” Density of plants: 3,900 plants per hectare Yield per hectare: 72 hl/ha Wine making process: the grapes from the "brolo" (enclosed vineyard, located at higher elevation than the one used for the Classico) are carefully selected to make this “Ripasso Wine”. Thanks to this second fermentation, the Ripasso wine becomes more full-structured, full-bodied and intense. Aged for 18 months in small oak barrels. Ruby-red with garnet reflections. An intense nose, elegant and rich, with hints of red berries under sweet spices and tobacco. On the palate, full-bodied, balanced and intense, good persistence of spicy aromas.
