Paul joined the family winery in 1991 after globe-trotting wine making, including California. Within four years, he was awarded Falstaff Winemaker of the Year. Achs now owns 21 hectares and rents 2 hectares– scattered in 40 sites around Gols. Along with Gernot Heinrich, Paul was one of the founding members of the Pannobile Association which is devoted to promoting the best wines from Gols; always made from Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch. Paul embraces the potential of the best cru in Gols to make Blaufrankisch, and in the 2003 vintage introduces a masterful trio of single vineyard Blaufrankisch: Altenberg, Spiegel and Ungerberg. Paul Achs produces wines that are simply impossible to resist– and are quickly defining the benchmark for the region. |

| Blaufränkisch Edelgrund |

The "Edelgrund" designation indicates this offering is a step up in quality and character from Achs regular Blaufränkisch.
Powerful and fruity Blaufränkisch, it is dark black/purple in color with immeditate earthy funk and light oak notes mingling on the nose. The dark fruit on the palate blends flawlessly with the other elements of this wine to make a dangerously smooth, while at the same time possesses a certain gripping 'grenache like' finish. Website

Made predominantly of Zweigelt and displays bright red fruit and light spice on the palate. Paul also recommends this wine slightly chilled with fish.

| Zweigelt "Langer Acker" |
The "Langer Acker" designation indicates this offering is a step up in quality and character from Achs regular Zweigelt.

The "Pannobile" blend varies by year and producer, but the focus is always on indigenous varietals. The bottling must be a minimum of 85% local varietals and is geared towards showing the full potential of these grapes. Darker at the core with deep ruby/violet tinges at the rim. Gorgeous fruit balanced by full acidity, tannin, and smoky oak. For those of you new to Austrian reds this selection will blow you away! Website
