CARINENA

This award winning winery is located in the small DO of Carinena, east of Rioja. All the grapes for their wines come from the domain's 100 hectare of vineyards.
Carineña Tinto Dance del Mar
This ripe, lush red is an equal blend of Tempranillo and Merlot. All the grapes come from a single parcel called La Pardina. After a 10 day maceration, the varietals go through a temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation.

The results are a very approachable wine exhibiting rich flavors of raspberries and strawberries combined with lifting floral notes. Rich and mouthfilling, elegant and well-balanced.

This is a wine to drink easily with a whole range of Mediterranean dishes.

Carineña Tinto Vina Urbezo
The wine is a blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 30% Tempranillo. The Grenache in the blend comes from 50 year old, dry-farmed vines, adding intensity and depth to this wine.

Vina Urbezo is one of the most well-reputed wines in Spain today. It regularly shows up on critics' lists of Spain's top red wines, including the Aldeasa Guide (top 100 wines) and in Carlos Delgado's book on the Best 200 wines in Spain.

Tasting Notes: Cherry-purple to the eye, this robust wine delivers rich flavors of blackberry, raspberry and dark cherry with a mint/eucalyptus note in the background. Muscular, well-balanced, with a distinctive long finish.


A perfect match for red meat dishes, mushrooms, roasts, cheese and grilled fish.



Carineña Crianza
Made from 40% Tempranillo, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Garnacha.

Process: Individual alcoholic fermentation for each variety. After the malolactic fermentation, wine tasting to determinate the coupage. Aging in French, American and Russian oak for 10 months and completion in bottle until its commercialization.

Tasting notes: Bigarreau cherry red color. Complexity of aromas of ripe fruit with subtle notes of toasted oak, toffee, vanilla and balsam. Well structured, broad and harmonic in the mouth. Elegant bouquet.


Serving suggestions: Smoked fish, roasts, foie gras, red meat and cheese.

Carineña Reserva 10° Aniversario
Made from 55% Merlot 40% Cariñena and 5% Syrah. Selected by Doug Frost as one of the Best new wines from Spain.

Process: Temperature controlled alcoholic fermentation. Maceration for 16 days. Ageing for 14 months in 300 liter casks of French, American and Russian oak.

Tasting Notes: Brilliant garnet red. Aromas of stewed red cherries combined with aromas of balsam and toasted oak. Smooth, broad, well structured and harmonic in the mouth. Distinctive nice finish.


Serving suggestions: Spicy vegetables, roasts, red meat, cure ham and cheese

Garnacha Viñas Viejas
This Vinas Viejas (Old Vines) is from 59 year old dry-farmed grenache. It is a young red with 3 months aging in French oak barrels.

Intensely red in color, with purple highlights. Intense fruity aromas of strawberry and red mature fruit blended with light vanilla, balsamic notes and toasted tones. Full bodied and tasty in the moth. Round, full of flavors, and a perfect structure and vivacity. Well balanced, with good acidity and quality tannins that remain in the mouth.
