13 Cepages honors the amazing wines that result when different grape varietals are blended. The art of blending has been perfected in the Rhone Valley, where 13 varietals are permitted in the making of the esteemed Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The grape varieties found in Rhone Valley wines traveled to France over 2,500 years ago, brought from Persia by intrepid Greek traders. Today these grapes have found their way to California where they create compelling and delicious wines. Using this exciting palette of flavors, the result are dynamic, complex wines, bursting of flavor.

13 Cepage White

Blended from 40% Viognier, 60% Roussanne, 13 Cepage White Blend shows itself rich and unctuous.

Well focused flavors of pear and apple, spiced with notes of honey and vanilla, delight the palate. It is a rich, mouthfilling wine with a luscious texture and a long, fruit filled finish. The Viognier brings up the bouquet beautifully in the white wine and provides backbone to the Roussanne which can get flabby on its own. The Roussanne provided a beautiful round, rich mid-palate.

13 Cepage Red

Blended from 70% Carignane, 15% Mourvedre and 15%Syrah.

The wine starts with high-toned cherry fruit than opens up and fattens up with cocoa and spice and even a note of garrigue on the palate. 13 Cepage Red Blend bursts forth like a plum tree out of the spice box. It is a brimming with dark berry fruit and notes of black pepper and dark chocolate. The luxuriant texture serves to amplify the big warm flavors and long, lingering finish.
