| RHEINGAU The Hans Lang wine estate was founded in 1953 by Johann Joseph Lang. The domain lies on 18 hectares of vineyards in the renowned villages of Hattenheim and Assmannshausen which border the river Rhine. The grape grown are Riesling (75%), Pinot noir (15%), Pinot blanc (5%), Chardonnay (2%), Grüner Silvaner (2%) and Pinot gris (1%). Only the very best fruit is selected. Winemakers employ natural viticultural methods, restrict yields and selectively harvest by hand. The wine is aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and, where appropriate, in traditional oak barrels or small (220 litres) new oak “barriques”. Hans Lang is a member of the VDP, the “Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter” (the association of quality German wineries) and views this as an outstanding recognition of the work and self-imposed commitment to excellence. Incredible Value in liter bottles! |

| Riesling Dry |
| |
| Charta Riesling |
| Made from 100% Riesling grapes of their best vineyards, this wine is crisp and fruity.
The quality is guaranteed by significantly higher requirements for ripeness and acidity, controlled by the Association of CHARTA-Estates. CHARTA wines are produced according to stringent quality criteria, dedicated to tradition, distinctive in style. They are submitted to strict taste-tests before and after bottling. The bottles are easily recognisable by the CHARTA insignia, the double Romanesque arch. A classic, harmoniously dry Rheingau Riesling wine. |
| Wisselbrunnen Erstes Gewächs |
| First Growths originate from narrowly demarcated parcels within classified sites in the Rheingau. They are Rieslings of great substance and internationally dry in style. The wines reflect the inherent quality that derives from a top vineyard, a "Grand Cru" of German origin.
Only wines from a limited number of specially designated sites are entitled to the epithet "Erstes Gewaechs" (synonymous with the French "Grand Cru"). These vineyards have long been recognised for their special terroir and capacity to yield fantastic wines. The title also ensures that the wines have been subject to the most stringent production methods. Hans achieved "Erstes Gewaechs" status for his Hattenheim Wisselbrunnen and Hattenheim Hassel Riesling. The first vineyard classification in the Rheingau took place in 1885. At that time the growths from top Rheingau sites were famous in the world of wine. They fetched far higher prices than wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne. This prestigious position lasted well into the late 1920s. Grown in the classified vineyard Hattenheim Wisselbrunnen on light tertiary marl with a yield of 50hl per hectare, the grapes were perfect healthy when they were handpicked at the mid October. They came home in small containers and were immediately pressed. The must fermented very slowly in stainless steel tanks until July of the following year. |

| Trockenbeerenauslese |
| Trockenbeerenauslese is an ultra-ripe Riesling aged in oak. Harvested in the outstanding year 2003.
Rich, sweet, luscious, honey-like wine with aroma of caramel, honey and a bunch of fruit.
Trockenbeerenauslese means Dry Berries Select Picking, made from individually selected berries which are overripe (usually infected by noble rot) and dried up to raisins on the vine, resulting in an almost syrup like juice that has an enormous concentration of natural sugar and acidity. A rarity with an extraordinary longevity. A wine which can easily age 20 - 50 years.
Trockenbeerenauslese wines represent the top of the German dessert wines. |
